Vision 2030: PS Kimotho Leads MTP IV Dissemination Forum in Kajiado County

On Monday, Kajiado County was illuminated with the promise of progress and development as the Kenya Vision 2030, Medium Term Plan IV 2023-2027 dissemination forum took place at Maasai Mara Technical Institute.  The forum, graced by the presence of State Department of Irrigation Principal Secretary Ephantus Kimotho, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry Hon. Soipan Tuya, and Kajiado County Governor H.E Joseph Olelenku, was a milestone in accelerating social-economic transformation for a more competitive, inclusive, and resilient economy. Irrigation PS Hosts German Official, celebrates Madaraka Day with Farmers

  Photo: Irrigation PS Ephantus Kimotho with Ms. Kofler inspecting the Kandiu Irrigation Project.   On Saturday, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Irrigation, CPA Ephantus Kimotho, hosted Ms. Baerbel Kofler, the Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.  Ms. Kofler's visit focused on the smallholder irrigation programme, which has successfully placed over 6,000 acres under irrigation through the completion of 19 irrigation projects. PS Kimotho announced that the upcoming phase IV of the programme will fund 5 irrigation projects in Kirinyaga, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties. Accompanied by PS Kimotho, Ms. Kofler conducted field tours of the projects, including the completed Kandiu Irrigation Project and the ongoing Kandeki Irrigation Project under Phase IV, both of which are part of the partnership with KfW. The project, once completed, is expected to significantly boost rice production in the country.  On Friday, the Principal Secretary for Irrigation, Ephantus Kimotho, conducted a thorough site inspection of the Mwea Irrigation and Development Project. The primary objective of the inspection was to assess the impact of recent floods and to gauge the progress of the canal constructions. Following the inspection, PS Kimotho, alongside officials from the National Irrigation Authority, contractors, and other stakeholders, engaged in comprehensive discussions to address the challenges and emerging issues affecting the project's timely completion.
